Looting gold ornaments and money from the flat in the false identity of the student coordinator in North; arrest 2
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Uttara-Paschim Thana police have arrested two people involved in the robbery of gold ornaments and cash by entering the student coordinator’s house under the false identity of Uttara.
The arrested are 1. Md Maruf Hasan Pallab (32) and 2. Abdullah Al Mamun Sajib (26). During the arrest, 14 pieces of gold jewellery, one lakh cash, a passport and a motorcycle used in the incident were recovered from their custody.
According to Uttara-paschim police station, last Friday (October 18) around 11:30 am, unknown 9/10 miscreants took hostage the manager of house number 61, Shah Makhdoom Avenue Road, sector 12 of Uttara-paschim police station, and a person on the 6th floor of the house. BGMEA and Shanta Mariam University students and student coordinator entered the flat of Harunur Rashid Howladar. After the miscreants entered the flat, they opened the DVR of the CCTV camera in the flat and Dr. Harunur Rashid Howladar’s wife Dr. According to Mumtaz Shahanara (Vice Principal of Eden College), their flat is stocked with illegal weapons and money. They threatened to hand over to the police and the army. Mumtaz demanded a contribution of 25 lakhs from Shahanara. When he refused to pay the contribution, some of the miscreants started talking to him and the rest looted 83 pieces of gold ornaments and Rs 15 lakh in cash from his bedroom. After looting gold ornaments and money, they took the CCTV camera DVR with them when they left around 2.40 pm. In this regard, last Sunday (October 20). Mumtaz Shahanara filed a case against 9/10 unnamed persons in Uttara-paschim police station as the plaintiff.
According to Uttara-paschim police station, after the case was registered, Uttara-paschim police station analyzed the video footage of the CCTV cameras around the incident site and identified those involved in the incident with the help of information technology. After that they arrested them and started a raid to recover the looted goods. During the operation last Tuesday (October 22) early night, Md. Maruf Hasan Pallab, involved in the incident, was arrested from Uttara Sector 4 Hotel Paradise. At that time, 14 pieces of gold jewellery, a passport and a motorcycle used in the incident were recovered from his custody.
According to Uttara-Paschim police sources, on Wednesday (October 23), arrested Md. Maruf Hasan Pallab was sent to the learned court, he gave a confessional statement to the court and provided information about the other accused. Then based on the information provided by Maruf Hasan Pallab, yesterday Wednesday (October 23) at 5:30 pm, the police arrested Abdullah Al Mamun Sajib from Sector No. 12, Uttara. One lakh rupees looted from him was recovered during his arrest. In the preliminary interrogation, Sajib also admitted his involvement in the said incident.
The operation to arrest others involved in the incident and recover the remaining looted goods is continuing
